Beauty and the beast.
The Grande Dame of the stage finally returns to London. As she goes the old farmer is outside in the sunshine polishing his ancient motorhome . '' Fancy a lift beautiful ? " he shouts out across the lane . ' What did he say ? ' asks our departing houseguest. '' He says he hopes the latest series is as well received as the others " the font quickly replies. The Grande Dame , now safely installed in the back seat of the large SUV, gives a royal wave and smiles coquettishly. The old farmer beams. Both are, in their own very different ways, delighted with the outcome.
It rains overnight. Not heavily but just enough to leave a puddle on the floor of the church. ' Shouldn't they have repaired the roof before they started work on the ceiling frescoes ? ' asks ' the font ' . The three young ladies from Toulouse and their proprietorial dog don't seem to be in the slightest bit bothered

Well, 'the font' might possess a wisdom that others do not...ReplyDelete
Here's hoping the Grande Dame has a safe trip home!
The Grande Dame and the old farmer - both accustomed to playing a role.ReplyDelete
I presume your friend doesn't read your blog?ReplyDelete
Blogs ? Computers ? PIN numbers ?Delete
Shades of "What's a weekend"?Delete
and if that's correct, after watching three episodes, yes it will be.....
Got it - must be Maggie.. Have a great day in Southern France from Susanne, Daisy, Foxiie and Kiri (he is dating the local Alsatian puppy Kelly...)ReplyDelete
Roof over the kiln....Leaky roof over restoration work....sounds like everything is normal in the little village.ReplyDelete
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I would say that 'the font' was only being politically correct.ReplyDelete
Hope you cleared your afternoon schedule....an emergency meeting to decide when the church roof will be repaired will be up for discussion.ReplyDelete
Oh my I hope the finished frescoes are not ruined from the rain.

Had to edit my previous comment. The farmer's ancient RV would look right at home in Alaska!ReplyDelete
Aha! It must be Dame Maggie. She is the reason I watch Downton Abbey. Old farmer is a chronic flirt.ReplyDelete
the mayor hasn't been over for a glass of champagne in a long time.ReplyDelete
i predict it will call for a thirsty impromtu meeting at the rickety old farmhouse
to discuss the problem of the church roof! the font is after all on the council now!
i'm glued to the tv every sunday night while downton abbey is on.

Hi Angus! I saw this group on TV this morning and thought perhaps you might enjoy this video of 'The Piano Guys'. It's uniquely beautiful what they've done to the piano and their other pieces combine classic and pop music together.ReplyDelete
