We are seated in splendid isolation by the reception desk. ' The font ' orders Vichysoisse. The waitress appears with the soup and then pipes a pyramid of aerated cream on top. '' Voila ! " she says with evident satisfaction. Both of us are rendered speechless. We are still admiring the ' blob ' of artificial cream when the waitress returns and scatters a teaspoon of dried fruit over the soup. ' The font ' comments on the unique way of preparing Vichysoisse. The waitress takes this as a compliment.
Long chat with the vet. He thinks getting puppies at 12 weeks is just fine . In fact he thinks that 12 weeks is the perfect date for the mother. We'll carry on driving north and make up our minds later today. ' The font ' has reassured Angus that Sophie will be more than happy to accompany him and ' Bob ' to the rugby on Sunday afternoon. The fact the pups already have names probably tells you all you need to know.
Great names!
ReplyDeleteFrom the reader who just adopted "Otto" from the slammer.
Welcome Sophie and Bob! You already have a huge following and lots of us interested in you both (from all around the blog world) before you get to your new home.
ReplyDeleteWoofs,
Riley and Enzo
hear hear !!
DeleteWe needed some good news today! Jack sends his hello to the new kids on the block!
ReplyDeleteNews to brighten a grey Aberdeen morning. And why wouldn't Sophie want to go to the rugby!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Once you name them you're hooked. We're sure Sophie would love the rugby.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
They are precious!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like Bob already. He has a very Wilfee look on him. Smart boy has already marked you by licking your ears. Sophie would be good for the font.. sweet girl! Sometimes girls do love rugby too. Congrats to both of you! Puppy power and lotta carpet surfing soon.
ReplyDeleteI am jelous. I would love to be in the position of getting my ears puppy licked. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteFrom the owner of two cats.
I have just returned from France, so I am catching up with the wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful.
Probably nothing to be concerned about, but I just got a slight uneasy feeling at seeing yesterdays pictures of the Mum. She looked very tired.
I left a comment.
All the very best.

I agree, would love for mum to go live with Angus and Font. I think she will be happier. And she will be sure to have no more puppies.
DeleteTwo very lucky dogs! And I love the way they melted into the Font's arms. Just like they had found a home.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely....
ReplyDeleteWe found the Wilf and Digby blogs late in 2011, just following the loss of our beloved Bearded Collie after fourteen wonderful years. Your beautiful accounts of their escapades inspired us to 'rebuild' and we recently acquired Kitty, our delightful GBGV pup.
Wishing you much love and happiness in your own 'rebuild'.

Angus, it's early here, but I was anxious to see what the decision had been. I was taken by Bob and Sophie and I didn't say it yesterday, but Sophie really pulled at my heartstrings. Shy dogs do take a little more time, but exposing her to the sights, sounds and smells something like a Rugby game and the cafe each day and wherever life takes you, along with lots and lots of positive reinforcement and experiences, I think you will find will do so much to help this precious little girl to blossom.
ReplyDeleteOh la la, so happy for you, and the puppies ! That's so nice to see one of them in your arms.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Sophie and Bob !
Love your way to speak french Angus... so elegant !
dancing down under to celebrate :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteOnce they have names, there's no turning back!!
Oh, Angus! They are beautiful! My sister and I have followed your journey to this day. So happy for you, the font and the babies.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you all!
What a way to start my day, they are beautiful. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you as well.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Bob and Sophie!
Blessings,
Janelle, Maggie Mae and Max
The start of a whole new big adventure! It's lovely that you make us all feel a part of it too. Looking forward to (hopefully!) seeing the puppies grow with you over the coming months and years.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear the tales of Bob and Sophie - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteBob and Sophie will both be attending the Sunday rugby matches.....lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm grinning from ear to ear over here....so very happy for you and the Font.
Vichysoisse with a clump (sorry aerated pyramid) of cream and dried fruits on top, is it still vichysoisse?
<3
ReplyDeletethank god. I thought you were going to call them squim and squee.
ReplyDeleteoh! bob and sophie. you have such a welcoming committee.
world wide little ones! world wide!
I'm so happy for all of you. I have been taking care of a shih tzu and her litter of four puppies from the start for my ex sister in law they are 6 weeks weeks old now, and she can sell them at six weeks in CA and that is fine with the vet here as long as they are eating and drinking on their own.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It is going to be a very long month, waiting for Bob and Sophie to come to the Farmhouse. Oh, and every girl pup I have owned has loved to watch outdoor sports. One (a wire fox terrier) loved to play soccer if given the chance.
ReplyDeleteMr. O & I send our heartiest congratulations. The pups are just adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou are jumping in with both feet and I am so looking forward to watching your posts about these two characters! Life is short and this is how you do it! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThrilled to bits about Bob and Sophie!! What adorable puppies!!! Angus and the Font must be over the moon!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful message from you today. I am counting down the days till the first of April when you are home from your trip. You don't even have to up pack :), just go and get the fur babies and bring them home. They are so cute. Can't wait till we see them each day and read about their daily life. It will be so much fun for you and " the font" and all of us that read your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy Westie came home at three months and he is a wonderful dog. So many breeders want let them go till they are three months. My Maine Coon cat couldn't come home with me till she was three months old. She has been fine also.
Can't wait to hear more about the new "pons" :)
Exciting news Bev, Molly & Roo :0)
ReplyDeleteThey're beautiful. We just adopted two little girls that are now 14 weeks old ad would love to wrestle and tumble with yours.
ReplyDeleteSue
Oh, what joy! As you know, many of us have waited with baited breath for this moment. Congratulations Sophie and Bob for finding two of the best parents in the world. And just to mention, Rémy came to us at 9 months and is the most well adjusted and happy boy we've ever seen at 16 months. It can be done, and you will do it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Can't wait for the stories...the pictures....the overall hilarity that puppies bring. Oh boy!
ReplyDeleteOoooo! I love the names! I'm so excited for you! Perhaps they'll be riding back home with you, then?
ReplyDeleteI see Sophie is "your" dog, Angus, and "Bob" is the "Font's." Interesting, eh? Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news! I am behind in my blog reading and was thrilled to read about your new family members. I wish you many adventures and much happiness.

This makes everyone at my house very happy indeed.
ReplyDeleteSmiles all round.
xo
So B it !!!!!
ReplyDeleteQ tail or no tail? Have fun, Bev and Rupiec :0)
Will the rickety old farmhouse now be renamed or will we have an extra " Bob and Sophie discover France " blog :-)))
ReplyDeleteAre you having "father of a daughter" anxiety, Angus? Little Sophie will have you wrapped around her silky paw in no time flat. She'll be your rugby companion, I'm sure. All concerns about the breeder aside, did you connect with Bob and Sophie from the start? That you love them, that's the thing.
ReplyDeleteWas their mother bred on site? She certainly seems sound and of good temperament.
Better than Will and Kate, I suppose
ReplyDeleteMazel tov on the new additions to the family! We're looking forward to getting to know and love them.
ReplyDeleteHello Angus,
ReplyDeleteJust a quick post to ask if you are safe ? We have no news for 2 days...
