Food at last .

The farmer ( or bad farmer as we've now christened him ) finally brings fresh fodder for the two cows in the field across the lane. The first time they've been fed or visited in nine days. One of the cows stands to eat , the other lies down and delightedly tosses the hay into the air with her horns. Last winter the farmer lost five cows and three calves to the cold weather. Animal welfare not a French forte. Complain too loudly and he'll simply slaughter them.

A concrete nativity scene on sale in the garden centre . Reduced from €1200 to €490. An improbable sign sellotaped to Josephs coat " Bargain of the year ".

By the checkout counter in the supermarket an advert for Lagotto Romagnolo puppies . Great trufflers and marvellous companion dogs. ' The font ' thinks they look a bit like PON's. Angus doesn't. The woman at the checkout informs us they have webbed feet.

  1. I have a feeling that someone is going to hold out for PONs.

  2. They look like a cross between a Poodle and a PON. A Pondle.

I am rather quite sweet on Spoodles, but PON's will always be my woof of choice.

  3. The one on the left looks like Bo :) Very much different from PONS... and they are curly :D

Happy New Year to you Angus and to the lovely font :)

  4. I'm with you Angus....I'm anxiously awaiting two PONS to live at the ROF.
Those poor least the farmer has fed them at last. Hope he remembered the water. They look very contented...actually if I had the space, I would adopt all the free manure!

  5. To me, Lagotto Romagnolo sounds like pasta dish! :-) They remind me a bit of a Portuguese Waterdog, if they have webbed feet, maybe they're related. I can understand you're hoping your new additions will be PON's. It goes without saying that I really adore terriers, but Goldens will always have a big place in my heart, just as PON's do for you.

  6. Didn't that farmer do the same thing to the cows last year also!? I was thinking that you, Angus and the font had brought the cows some food. Maybe I'm mixing it up with water when it was horribly hot. Anyway, how stressing to have to worry about the poor animals! Good luck with that bad farmer!!! Cindy

  7. The Lagotto Romagnolo look like Portuguese Water Dogs to me as well. The black and white puppy bears a sligh resemblance to Bo Obama! I must admit it is a new breed to me and with the help of my trusty google, I found a bit about them.

    Happy New Year!

May there be new puppies and your future!

  8. That farmer! Is he all there, mentally? The cows need feed to be able to generate heat to withstand the cold. Feed for them is cheaper than loosing that number of stock to the weather or slaughtering them. His actions seem like those of a common drunk!

  9. Oh that farmer makes my blood boil!! I would be feeding those cows on my own, even buying bales of hay or a big big bucket of oats. Terrible person. Those dogs are interesting. Webbed feet just like Labs I wonder? As for the sale on Joseph and the Baby Jesus, perhaps next year there will be a blowout sale, and he will be marked down even more. I'd wait. :)

  10. There's something to be said for a "great truffler"! I agree - "bad farmer".

  11. Hello! I understand this is kind of off-topic
