The firemans knife.

At last. Spring is finally on the way. Our third day of blue skies and bright sunshine. The rivers flush with mountain melt waters . The solitary heron in the corner of the village pond joined by a mate. The sparrows ( where have they been ? ) back squabbling on the lawn .

An advert in the local paper for a replica American firemans knife. It has a logo on the side  " Fire Department ". Very realistic .  Available in two colours - Salmon Pink or Red . Angus wonders how many American firemen carry Salmon Pink knives to work.

  1. One has the depressing thought that the pink knife might be intended for female firefighters. Bleurghhh!
Wish we had some of that sunshine here.
    Cheers, Gail.

  2. Why do the manufacturers always think that women adore pink? I guess the firewomen love pink.
Glad that spring is on its way back to you.

  3. Excuse me. I have a pink knife which I keep in my car. The vivid colour makes it easy to find when you don't quite remember where you sat it. Don't knock it until you've tried it, as the old saying goes.

  4. Neither salmon pink or red Angus! EMT/Fireman (ret) says black matte only! Oh and the sparrows? I am told Mediterranean region for Europe, right? On this Pacific NW island though, birds seem to hang around due to mild temperatures including hummingbirds! Weather pattern changes...

  5. While I absolutely LOVE the color pink, I am fairly certain that American firefighters carrying pink knives are few and far between.

  6. Well as long as it has the logo, it HAS to be official!

  7. Whatever color it is, if it's being used to save my life and not as a weapon, it's okay! :-)

  8. We'd expect fluro ourselves....so they could spot it if dropped in smoke. But that's just us. Kim (above) has the right idea.

  9. Well, not all firemen are men, you know! ;) I hope Spring finds us both early! I'm tired of looking at dead grass!
