Sad but true.

Sad but true. Madame Bay''s love affair with the swivel headed, lithium battery powered  hoover is over. Finished. Kaput. '' C'est ridique ! Une connerie " she tells me with a degree of passion that one wouldn't expect when discussing hoovers. There then follows a lengthy list of its faults . These seem to boil down to two key issues. 1) - It holds its charge for no more than ten minutes and 2) - it has the vacuuming power of an asthmatic gnat. Her final parting comment " I can't work with it " .

The electrician comes to wire up a light above the table in the small downstairs library. '' No need to bother yourselves. We know where everything is " they say matter of factly. They're gone in less than twenty minutes. Later ' the font ' notices that the light has been installed above the table ( as requested ) but not as you might expect above the centre of the table .

  1. We have the same vacuum, but only use it for spot vacuuming. We take the monster out when we need a good clean.

Did you really expect the light to be in the correct position?

  2. That would drive me bonkers.

    Poor little forlorn hoover.

  3. Will Madame Bay learn more caution in affairs of the hoover, or will there be a 'rebound vacuum cleaner' soon on the scene? Personally, I strongly recommend my Miele Cat and Dog 700 (with Turbo nozzle). A beautiful piece of German engineering - quiet, smooth, reliable and with powerful suction, not cheap but worth every penny... Oh no, I am beginning to sound like a Mme Bay herself!
    Cheers, Gail.

  4. Both things sound so familiar to me - keep going - you always make everything - also the unpleasant things - sound funny.... The Southern Italian crew -keep smiling, always!!!!

  5. I'd call them back and tell them there was no payment until the light was in the right place.

So, is Madame Bay buying the next new vacuum?

  6. Those little "stick" type hoovers are meant fir quick touch ups only. When used as such, the love affair may be rekindled. The Dyson Ball has model especially for homes with animal hair. Skimping on your hoover is false economy. My late granny purchased an Electrolux, that cost the earth in the 1940's, that is still going strong. Best to get the situation sorted out before little paws join you in the spring time.

  8. We had a Miele for many years and it always did a great job. When it wore out the shop talked me into getting a Riccar. It is as bad as the Miele was wonderful.
Your "small" library is very charming-even if the ceiling fixture is not in the proper location above the table.

  9. Yes they are only for small and fast clean ups. Love the books.

  10. That un-centered light would drive me mad (short trip!) so I guess the table will have to be off centre just to accommodate said light. Sorry to hear the love affair is over.

  11. Your library is a wonderful room! Oh to have a library!

  12. Can we please see the large upstairs library? Envy is a terrible thing. Even with an off center light fixture - and you had to see that coming.

Hope the next vacuum comes up to Mme Bey's expectations. Or the one after that.

  13. Sorry about the vac...off you go again to purchase a replacement to keep Madame Bay happy. I had an Electrolux for years, but now I'm using a Hoover canister vac. As mentioned above, the German technology ones are good.
So envious of the lovely blue and white umbrella stand...would be a welcome addition to my blue and white porcelain collection.
The light can be centred over the reading table with a swag hook....a simple fix.
