Frogs

The workmen come to lay a new power supply to the village hall. One huge drum of electric cable , four large rolls of red tubing and a mechanical digger deposited unceremoniously in the middle of the village green . The workmen then leave. The mayor , who has been pruning the acacia trees, scurries across to ask them when they'll be back. The workmen shrug their shoulders.

Time to clear out the village pond. Two large and very jovial gentlemen in rubber wadders arrive after lunch. They fill the back of their truck with bindweed. The frogs grumble noisily and hop off into the surrounding fields. Thousands of them. Almost like a small biblical plague. A touch of the pharaonic  here in deepest France profonde.

This is good for a smile on a Friday morning . ( Go to the 3.00 minute mark if you want to cut to the chase ) :

  2. Love the video. Have you seen the one where the guy does that from Edinburgh to Skye?

  3. Cool video! Where is the footage of you and your bike riding amongst the cows? At the very least, you could attempt to jump Madame Bay's Wild Child voiturette! ;)

  4. Angus, I come to this blog safe in the knowledge that there won't be any of that cycling nonsense that so infects our household.
    Feeling betrayed this morning.
    Toodle pip!

  5. I would never have thought that the Mayor would be at the mercy of French workmen...thought her status would have helped the project to go faster....so much for that wasted thought.
Enjoyed the entire video...great skill for sure to accomplish those feats.

  6. I'm not sure which I would prefer, a biblical plague of frogs or the stink-bugs we've had this year.

I also enjoyed the video, but why didn't he rake the bunker after he was finished in it? ;-)

  7. What an amazing video! I don't know if the fellow is completely brilliant, or absolutely NUTS! A few of those stunts were very scary!

The mayor is qualified to prune trees??

  8. Hey!!! That's exactly how I ride my bike to work....every day. Ok, not really.

Good riddance to those frogs. I have a deep seated fear of frogs. The less the better in my opinion.....

    Great pics today!

  10. Not a very nice time of the year to tamper with the frog's habitat.

  11. Jeepers.
    That biker.
    I don't know what I admire more.
His leg muscles or his fearlessness.
