Died of a broken heart ?

The BBC report on this sad tale stated , matter of factly , that Theo the dog had died of a broken heart. Must be some fellow dog lovers in the BBC newsroom.

  1. Thank you for this. Clicked on the link to the funeral at the end. The sight of all those working dogs .....

  2. Lovely story--I had also seen it in the local paper here in Maryland--perhaps we are becoming a more compassionate world?

  3. When I saw this yesterday on the internet, I accepted it was indeed true. If humans can die of a broken heart, so can our dearest furry companions. Think about elephants mourning their own.

  4. What a sad story! I had heard the tale already, but I hadn't seen the funeral. I've heard of this happening a few times, and I think it's very possible that the dogs have that strong a tie to their handlers.

  5. Could well be the reason. The bond between humans and dogs is strong.

  6. It was only right that Theo's ashes were returned to British soil. God bless them both, man and dog.

  7. This comes as no surprise to anyone who is owned by a dog. We all know how deeply they love. Thank you for the link. So sad. The first picture of them, you can see their bond.

  8. The bond between a dog and it's owner is so STRONG, it is no wonder that it is possible for a dog to die from a broken heart after his owner passes....so sad but also so true.
