Beauty and the beast.

The Grande Dame of the stage finally returns to London. As she goes the old farmer is outside in the sunshine  polishing his ancient motorhome  . ''  Fancy a lift beautiful ? " he shouts out across the lane . ' What did he say ? ' asks our departing houseguest. '' He says he hopes the latest series is as well received as the others " the font quickly replies. The Grande Dame , now safely installed in the back seat of the large SUV, gives a royal wave and smiles coquettishly. The old farmer beams. Both are, in their own very different ways,  delighted with the outcome.

It rains overnight. Not heavily but just enough to leave a puddle on the floor of the church. ' Shouldn't they have repaired the roof before they started work on the ceiling frescoes ? ' asks ' the font ' . The three young ladies from Toulouse and their proprietorial dog don't seem to be in  the slightest bit bothered

  6. I would say that 'the font' was only being politically correct.

  7. Hope you cleared your afternoon schedule....an emergency meeting to decide when the church roof will be repaired will be up for discussion.

  9. Had to edit my previous comment. The farmer's ancient RV would look right at home in Alaska!

  10. Aha! It must be Dame Maggie. She is the reason I watch Downton Abbey. Old farmer is a chronic flirt.

i predict it will call for a thirsty impromtu meeting at the rickety old farmhouse
to discuss the problem of the church roof! the font is after all on the council now!
i'm glued to the tv every sunday night while downton abbey is on.
watching the grande dame and maclaine go at it this season will be fun.

  13. Hi Angus! I saw this group on TV this morning and thought perhaps you might enjoy this video of 'The Piano Guys'. It's uniquely beautiful what they've done to the piano and their other pieces combine classic and pop music together.
